This is a handmade pottery pitcher with a lid, It is made of a solid, thick stoneware or earthenware. The dark blue-green with muted brown speckled glaze give it a rustic look. The lip resembles a bird’s beak. It has a semi attached lid meaning you would have to hold it if pouring water.

I would not recommend using this pitcher to serve water, however. First, it is very heavy and second, the inside does show signs of crazing. The inside has a different shinier white glaze which is not as clean as the outside. This would be used primarily for display or perhaps as a vase.

The outside of the pitcher is in excellent condition. It’s eye catching. There are no chips or signs of crazing. Small potter imperfections give it character, particularly on the lid.

It measures 10 3/4” tall and holds about 48 ounces.
It is rather heavy weighing in at 5 lbs 6 oz.

It is signed. It appears as though the signature reads “AT 1952”
