IN the Spring of 1977 a manuscript inscribed on leaves of golf appeared mysteriously in the locked office safe of J.B. Farquist & Sons, exclusive manufacturers of ladies rubber undergarments for the Lucy M. Farnsworth Memorial Home for the Criminally Bewildered.
The twenty-two pound thirteen-ounce solid gold manuscript was subsequently sent to a university in New York for authentication and placement in the National Shrine for Mysterious Stuff, but vanished.
The unfortunate loss of the original manuscript has not prevented the publication of the book. Before the original disappeared, hopefully forever, from public view, a duplicate was made in typed manuscript, from which this present volume was typeset.
