The SD-CD2 is a stereo buffer amplifier that uses two 6J1 vacuum tubes. According to the manufacturer, inserting it between the source and the amplifier softens the digital sound.
The 6J1 tube is actually compatible with the 6AK5, so it might be interesting to try swapping it with 6AK5, 5654, 6BC5, 403A, EF95, 6AK5W, or CV4010.
